I was playing around with my elcheapo 85$ net used XFX5750 with the Far Cry 2 benchmark, and I think ATI overdrive is limiting my overclock with MSI Afterburner. Msi afterburner will not let me go over 870 core. It just so happends that ATI Overdrive maxes at 870 core.
Is there a way to get it higher?

I was also told that these cards (5xxx series) don't artifact as easily ,and will tune down unless given extra voltage? I don't see that happening yet.

I think this card could be a monster overclocker if I could flash the bios to up the voltage. If this possible? I have a thumb drive ready!:D

Anyway here are the settings and results so far.

Settings: Demo(Ranch Small), 1280x1024 (85Hz), D3D10, Fixed Time Step(No), Disable Artificial Intelligence(No), Full Screen, Anti-Aliasing(None), VSync(No), Overall Quality(Optimal), Vegetation(High), Shading(High), Terrain(High), Geometry(High), Post FX(High), Texture(High), Shadow(High), Ambient(High), Hdr(Yes), Bloom(Yes), Fire(Very High), Physics(Very High), RealTrees(Very High)

Stock the card runs 700 core,1150 mem

@700, 1150
min 65.55
avg 78.11
max 98.97

@725, 1200
68.6
81.30
105.59

@750,1225
70.28
82.98
103.93

@800,1275
71.65
86.36
109.05

@825,1300
74.37
88.65
109.05

@850,1325
74.64
90.89
112.96

@870,1350 (WOW 5400 actual on memory!)
74.44
91.92
114.39

The card never broke 61c in any of these tests.
I ran Furmark at 870 1350 and it jumped to 75c.

I think this card overclocked maxed is about = to my old gtx 260 216 stock? I can't remember.
I wanna see what this cards max core is.
Help please.

Agreed, try a little bit higher voltage. You should be able to use MSI Afterburner to adjust the voltage (it works for the 5850 anyway) without a BIOS flash.

I have one of my 5850s at 1.2V, and it is stable at 1000 Core, 1250 Memory. I would not try raising your memory speed any more than it is now. You'll get bigger improvements uppinf your core speed.

cusideabelincoln ,
My perfromance has gotten stronger so far and if it starts to drop I will take your advice and back off.
I tried the check box to disable and used MSI afterburner ,but it still resets back to 700 core if I try to go beyond 870.

Zeus and Sroode,
Unfortunatly XFX 5750's (well the one I have) doesn't support voltage adjustments through MSI afterburner.
Is it safe to flash the bios? If so whats the best way to do so?

Thanks guys

Bios flashing is an art and it's also a learning process. Not sure on the 5750

1000 ghz!!!????

got 910 with no voltage adjustments!

But need a program to get her higher,Afterburner is maxed at the core.

Gonna try her at 910 core 1400 mem. brb

Edit @ 910, 1400

72.78
94.94
118.13
A little higher with the avg and max but lost 2 fps in the min.

I dropped the memory to 1375 and got my minimums back.

So final clocks (for now ) on stock voltages are 910,1375 memory (5500 effective).

so to recap..

Stock settings 700, 1150

min 65.55
avg 78.11
max 98.97

Overclocked to 910,1375 (25%?)

min 74.00
Avg 94.37
Max 118.65

Not bad for a used 85$ 5750

I think he was being smart about you saying Ghz, when it's obviously Mhz you're talking about.

Happy,

Run 06 for me and post the numbers if you don't mind. I've been looking at the 5750's as well.

I did find a way to push past 910. I installed evga's overclocking tool,and the clocks started at 910! 1350 because I allready had Msi afterburner set at those clocks.
I switched back to MSI afterburner and bang I could use the sliders up to 1185 core and over 1400 memory.

Final clocks without extra voltage was 912,1365.
I was hoping for more, but thats easily faster then a 5770,so I'm happy.
I just backed her down to 900,1345 for everyday use.

Thanks bro. Kinda disappointed. Was hoping for over 20K. My 9600's in SLI beat that easily. Hmm... 5850 maybe. Maybe a pair of 5750's.. Hmmm

3DMark Score
19076 3DMarks
SM 2.0 Score 8446
SM 3.0 Score 8262

Don't take them scores to seriously. my single 9800gtx scored 14,500.
My gtx 260 scored less then the 5750!
And we know that a gtx260 is faster then a pair of 9600gt's in real gaming. Right?:hmm:

I think the vantage test might be better.
3d 06 seems a little weak for one these cards and 2 9600gt's.
