I have a nice Global Win WBK68 CPU Cooler which is rated for 1.4+ Ghz AMD processor (AMD aproved). I installed it two different ways, by putting a little dot of thermal compound in the middle and by putting a light coating over the entire CPU. With my CPU sitting at idle for a while in the BIOS PC Health Screen I am running at 132-134 F. That seems a little on the Hot side compared to a friend who's runs at around 112F! When in Windows 98SE playing some graphics intense games for a while then going back to BIOS to my CPU temp, it ha s risen to 142-144 F. THis is all done with the case panels all off. Is there something wrong with my CPU, thermal compund or mother board? How can I get the temp down??? Thanks

Go to the arctic silver website and read their instructions on how to apply thermal paste.
When you remove your heatsink, check that you have a nice contact pattern on it the shape of the CPU die. If you don't, you have fitted the heatsink wrongly and this could be the cause of your high temps.

I dont know if this matters but I notice most guys on this MessageBoard go by Celcius temps. I had mine set for Fahrenheight(spelling😛) and would get confused.
