How do i get the prompt for opening and saving files again in Internet Explorer

When i left click a link to save a file in Internet Explorer 6, it automatically defaults to opening the file instead of giving me a prompt to save it. This is really annoying. How do i get the prompt back? I'm running xp.

not sure if this works...try opening 'windows explorer' | tools | options | file types
find the .mpg or .zip or whatever extension and remove it.

I only get a prompt for open and save on XP Pro, not the usual run from, or save to disk like I was use to seeing.
