whats the best way to get the recordings off my dvr? just as i figured it out with my tivo i got rid of it. Now i cant find anything on the net dealing with optimum's dvr.

any links would be appreciated. In the meantime i'll go back to searching.

You don't, unless you want to transfer them in realitime via firewire, *IF* Cablevision is nice enough to have enabled the firewire port (or even has one) on its DVR.

Also, *IF* Cablevision was nice enough not to include a 5C flag during that channels broadcast either, otherwise good luck getting it off any DVR.

capture card ftw
FTL, dude, FTL.

Same here, didn't want the drama with the cable co.
I bought an Hi-def Capture Card and an antenna, now I can record all my shows in HD and Sports Games too.

Though I still use cable for other shows or sports not being broadcasted locally OTA HD.

I thought he means to use a capture card to capture playback of stuff already recorded on the DVR. That would be a total pain in the ass!
