How do I get rid of used toner cartridges?

Depends on what kind of machine they are for. If they're the kind with the fuser mechanism built in, companies will buy them from you and recylce/scrap for parts. If they are just drums, you are probably SOL. Xerox used to return ship theirs but not anymore.

Fuser & drum in the same unit? Doubtful... Fusers last MUCH longer than drums, & you need room for the transfer process.

Drum + toner is very common though.

If you take it to your city's recycling center, they'll be able to take it. Many big retailers also take them. I think the Target in my city takes used toners but I'm not sure now that I think about it.

The office supply retailers take them for recycling.

In the past few HP cartridges I've purchased, a prepaid UPS label is included for shipment back to HP.

Either Office Max or Office Depot... got their names sound alike, has a thing where for each empty carttridge you bring in, they give you a ream of blank paper for. The paper is recycled paper, but it seemed to be good quality paper.

Check online for a toner buyer, if its a popular cartridge, you might get a few bux and paid shipping.
