I did a clean install of RC1 and activated successfully.
Seeing that i have activated the product, why do i still see the following in the lower right corner on my desktop?

Windows Vista (TM) RC 1
Evaluation copy. Build 5600

Um, because that's what it is. All the pre-released builds have text there, you can't remove it. It will be gone in the final version.

Nope, just informative so you can see what build you're on and to remind you that it is an eval.

Maybe he isn't in the beta program, and didn't download 5744 in time? Only 200,000 downloads of RC2 were allowed publicly.

Actually my comp was down due to a dead mobo but i also read that RC2 doesn't support upgrading to the final release but RC1 does so........

That's correct, although that's not to say it won't work. The supported path is Beta2 to RC1 to RTM. Support for other builds to RTM will be best effort, and will likely lead to you being asked to do a clean install of RTM.

Well that's not a problem because i have it on a separate partition.
I have 3:
1. XP - 60GB
2. STORAGE - 132GB
3. VISTA - 40GB

232GB (Western Digital 250GB)
