How do I get rid of the speaker beep sound on an N-Force2 based mobo?

IT'S LOUD!! It's scared the crap out of me far to many times and it's time to make it go away. If I'm scrolling on a web page with my scroll wheel on my mouse, and I scroll to the top of the page before the page actually makes it to the top, I get the beep. I get it when to many keys are pressed as well, pressing 4 keys in a game will give me the beep usually. Any way to ditch the beep? Thanks.

Unlug your case speaker.

Um...no. 99% of new motherboards come with a small PE speaker built into the motherboard and don't hook into the case speaker at all.

There might be a setting in bios although not always.

It's an 8RDA and I'm using the on-board sound, the beep comes straight through the speakers. There is no system speaker plugged in, and I took a peak but found no onboard speaker either, any ideas?

Reboot and go into the bios. In the "Integrated Peripherals" section of the menu, change the "AC97 Speaker At Post" option to "Disabled". Save and reboot...voilla.

🙂

No problem. I hated that stupid beep. I have two sets of 4.1 PM's hooked up as a 4.1 x 2 and every time I rebooted, I would blow my freakin ears out. Nothing like 800w of beep tone...lol
