How do I get rid of the skin breaks under my fingernails?

I have alot ok skin breakes under my nails and they just dont go away, they keep coming back. Is there anyway to permanatly get rid of them?

cut your nails very short and keep them that way
file the skin that was underneath your nails and is 'broken' down with a fine emory board
use some moisturizer as needed

Well I'm not talking about skin beneath my nails, but the skin below my nails.

Wear rubber gloves when you wash dishes or handle any type of solvent. Try different hand and body soaps, especially ones that have moisturizers in them. Use lotion. Move to New Orleans.

Any of the female members should have some tips, I usually just leave em there and let them dry out and fall off by themselves.
