How do I get rid of the Locks on a Folders?

I'm really starting to hate Win7.

Why is there a lock on some of the folders?

When I go to C/programs/xnews, I don't even see a folder named Downloads, just internet. But when using Xnews, I see a whole bunch of folders and files, some with locks on them.
I've tried to take ownership of Xnews, allow everyone to have permission, but I can't find this folder. I'm PO.
Help.

Thanks

I feel for you. I don't like the file explorers in either Vista or 7, but there are tweaks to allow you better visibility and look/feel like the traditional file explorer. Or there are other third party file explorers which have much better usability. Just Google and you will find your solution.

You should make sure that "Show hidden files and folder" is turned on in Folder Options, in the Control Panel.

Some programs get installed to USERNAME/AppData(A hidden folder)/local
