How do I get rid of the Indian smell on my roommate?

(I will preface this post by saying I am of Indian heritage, so therefore I cannot be called a racist.)

My roommate (FOB from India) smells really bad. I don't know what causes it. Its the worst BO smell evar, yet it seems common amongst newly arrived Indian immigrants/students. What causes this smell? I know the ignorant will say "its curry smell" but damn are they wrong! Curry smells 1000x better than this.

How do I get him to do his laundry more regularly? Use regular American detergent? Or use deodorant? What have you done in similar situations?
 
Do things together like the laundry, tell him to try the stuff you use. He'll slowly adapt, it won't be overnight

Maybe try and make him a friend so he tries to be like you in terms of cleanliness?
 
Could be bad hygiene or possibly some kind of weeping rash/skin problem. Does he shower every day?

Its not a poop smell. Its definately a BO smell, but not poop. You know, I tried his method the other day (using my hand and water) and it felt...good??

then ask him if you can see 1) what brand deoderent he uses
2) If you can borrow his shampoo
3) If he uses those things, tell him to stop smelling 🙂
 
My gf and I get the pungent stank pits after cooking with cumin and coriander. The amount of pit hair also contributes to the BO. If I trim down my pit hair with with the #1 or #2 clipper attachment, it's like night and day.
 
Just dump a bottle of soap on him, drag him to the shower, and turn on the cold water. Lock him in there for an hour. He should be fine. 😉
 
Make a basket of goodies which includes a sample size of Tide, deodrant, head and shoulders and some other hygeine related products.

Wrap it up nicely and mail it to him, and say it's from some fictitious adverstising company called "NC Promotios". He will get that, and maybe he will use that stuff.

As co-founder of the holding comany of NC Promotions, as well as the other NC umbrella corporations, such as "SynthDude Arms" and "Jello Kardon", I approve of this course of action.
