irritating blue blocks surround the desktop icons, and obscure the picture. how can i get rid of this in XP, thanks?

No. Just the "Use drop shadows for icon lables on the desktop" selection is the option which controls this, as RiDE suggested (know this personally, as I turn all the options off save that particular one).Originally posted by: Amused
