How Do I Get Rid Of The Annoying Network Password In Win98?

Hi,
I'm having a tough time getting Windows 98 to stop asking me for my password on startup. Can anybody tell me how to eliminate it?

I've tried renaming the .pwl and switching the network setting to Windows Login (usually works) and Windows still asks me for a password. Any ideas?

Tried both ways and no good. Any other ideas?

What I've noticed is that when you click start and the cascading menu comes up, right about shutdown, there is a logoff. Sometimes it just says logoff and other times it will say logoff and my name after it. Did this system get configured for multiple users somehow?

I'd welcome any other advice. This is getting beyond annoying.

Thanks again,

Sal

Look and see if you have treak ui in your control panel. If you do, look under paranioa tab and make sure that CLEAR LAST USER is unchecked. That shouls solve your problem.

Try deleting all the *.pwl files. That usualy works. Also, are you shure that it is the network login not the other login. If that doesn't work, the only other thing I can think of is to delete all networking protocals, rebooting, and reinstalling. Hope that works.

Download Tweak UI from download.com and it's pretty easy, just go to the login tab and have it automatically log you in every time you boot up not to mention some nice GUI tweaking features.

I think shasow might have hit the nail on the head. I've tried everything else mentioned here and I do have Tweak UI. That was probably my problem because I had clear last user checked.

Before I got this suggestion I had already knocked out all my networking stuff already. I am going to reinstall it tomorrow and hopefully shasows tweak ui tip did it.

Also.. I never realized that Logon feature in Tweak UI. If all else fails, I can have it logon for me. Thanks for that tip AncientPC.

Many thanks to everyone else for their replies.
