Low carb diet. People will tell you it's bullsh*t and dangerous. That's crap. It's health and it works. Pick up a book (Atkins, Schwartzbein-sp?) and read up on it.

Plus exercise of course. Cardio. But remember the key to fat burning exercise is low heartrate for a long time. Read up on that too. You don't want to kill yourself for 30 minutes. That will help your heart, but not burn fat as well. It's better to get a moderately raised rate and do that for 60 mins.

Jimbo, sounds like a lot of the exercises you are doing just build muscle. Which is great, and the more muscle you have the more fat you will burn. But I think adding some cardiovascular exercise to your workout would help you slim down. I think they say to do about 20 minutes of cardio about 4 times a week. But, if you have more time, it can't hurt. Try riding the bike or running on the treadmill at the gym. Or, if you don't have a gym membership, just take a run down the road, go swimming, or go biking instead.

you would want to go on a low carb diet hence less bread, rice, pasta...etc...etc. Switch your muscle building workouts to cardio vascular workouts such as running, swimming, and focus on your current muscles dont build more muscles. good luck.

Jimbo: I think biking with your dad would be fine. I don't know about the 17 miles thing though, I don't bike much so I do not know if that is far or not. You will have to judge that. Just remember, you can work up to 17 miles if that is to far.

Seriously though, I'm planning to go run tha track a lot this summer, to burn some fat, and get leaner. Any good cardio work will help your cause.

Fat will make you lean... I know that it is not what most people will tell you, but it will shift your body's preference... You will burn ketoned (fatty acids) instead of glycogen (stored carbs)... Try to get enough oleic and linoleic acids, the two essential fatty acids, it can be done quite easily by adding olive oil to your cooking and flaxseed oil to your protein drinks (or just shove a table spoon of that yucky oil down your throat...)

It will increase your insulin response (sensitivity) which is good when you are trying to pack on mass, and it will decrease insulin secretion...

Add 3-5000mg's of vitamin C and 200-800mg of N-Acetyl Cysteine a day to combat the evil cortisol and build up your collagen stores in your joints... If you have the money for it, add HMB and creatine to further expand your blood weight and combat cortisol...

YOBARMAN,
Fortunately, I don't have to do the 12 week program, I'm in good shape. But the guidelines for the 12 week plan are fantastic for those that are in shape and want to stay that way. I do have a good friend that did the program for 5 months and went from pretty chunky(220) to competing in the city body building competetion(178). He didn't place but he looked damn good.

The key is short intense workouts and a low fat balanced diet.

I liked Bill better when he and his brother Shawn was selling MM2K printed on standard paper, no longevity interest, now, they will do anything to promote their products...

Get BodyOpus by Dan Duchaine (the infamous steroid GURU) and you will be surprised how much time and effort he put into the scientific parts of that book...

Body for life is still just an advertisment of the EAS products, even Almada is disgusted...

Still, when Billy boy was on the straight and narrow with the people who actually know what they were saying, he promoted the high fat diet, the BIG people (the longevity people who have the cash) convinced him that he could make more cash lying about it, so now he promotes low fat (even though his product desctriptions do not always do so)..

He is a sell out, that is what he is, he was just waiting for his spot in the longevity community and so he promotes whatever they want him to promote (remember, they got the cash)...
