How do I get rid of MSN Search Beta as home page?

I recently had my os reinstalled and we patched it up to XP sp 2. We put the beta version of MSN's spyware blocker on as well.

I'm not sure if it was the first time I opened up Internet Explorer since the install...but when I did the home page was the MSN Search Beta. I went to Tools to change my home page to a blank page using about:blank...to no avail. Every time I open Internet Explorer it's there...laughing at me!

How do I get rid of it?

After doing a bit of searching I think something was added to my IE icon. I dumped the one I had been using in my quicklaunch bar and copied it from the IE folder and now it's fixed.

Well...glad it's gone.

I'm pretty good about running clean system and NEVER clicking on crap...so I have no idea how it happened.

Get some spyware tools. IF you don't see it in the uninstall programs list then get spybot & ad-aware and it should take care of your problem Also make sure you have a good antivirus tool available.

Each IE icon can be set up to open up a different webpage when IE loads. So, in your case, it may have been possible to right click the IE icon that was giving you problems and select, properties.

At least this was the case with Win2K, I'm not sure about XP.
