How do I get rid of an extended partition without deleting ones inside?

I am working on this user's pc and it's been nothing but grief. First off it had Vista on it, so I imaged it and formatted it. I did the mistake of not formatting the entire drive, and only formatted that one partition (had a recovery one). So I installed windows xp and all was ok.

Then I decided to resize the recovery partition so I can put an xp image in it... then suddenly for whatever reason, an extended partition was created and those two partitions are in it! So now of course windows wont boot as there is no primary partition. How do I go about deleting the extended partition without having to delete the ones inside? I just want to turn them into primary partitions.
