Here's the deal.

I have 3 phones under the family plan with T-mobile.

The contract with them has ended and now I am on monthly contract.

I could get another contract with a different phone company and transfer our numbers.. but there would be a gap of week or so where we cant use our phone.

any ideas?

talk to their retention dept. Cingular was practically going to give me a hand job to stay with them.

go to tmobile.com login to your account. There is a link to upgrade your phone if you reup your contract its cheaper.

You can switch to cingular or another company and you can do that through amazon.com and it would about 2 days that you wouldn't be able to talk.

My brother just switched to tmobile, got a razor for -25 dollars

Call 611 on your TMo phone and ask them about it. If they tell you they can't upgrade you (although they should be able to), tell them you want to cancel. They'll transfer you to the retention folks, who should be able to make a deal on upgrading if you renew your contract.

HC has it. Though you should also be able to get that arranged from any kiosk or store. Once you're out of contract you are generally eligible for the promotional deals that come with new contracts again if you don't mind that commitment. HC's method should keep you from having to start a new contract though. And T-Mo is really, _really_ focused on keeping customers so you shouldn't have any issues with the retention department not being able to grant your request if you want to stay monthly.

Ughh. No.

You get a friend or a family member to go sign up. Point is you put the account under someone else's name for a new phone.

I got a new account under my name and so my mom cancelled the stuff under her. Now since she wants to switch also, I have to open it (cuz we cancelled within the past 90 days)

A person can open up to 10 accounts. =)

No, they will push to have a new contract signed probably. I don't know if they have some new programs in place as far as existing customer upgrades go, but they usually try for the new contract.

I didn't understand a single thing you said there.

I just inquired about this as well, and they said I could do it at any store, kiosk, on the web, or over the phone. You'll probably get a better deal by going to a store, but there are free phones that you can just order on the web, and they will send the instructions for setting them up.

As long as you are sure your contract is up, you can get the same deal on a phone that a new activation would, you just don't have to pay for the activation.

They'll push that at first, but I would think that he could ferengi a new phone while monthly by bringing up Verizon's "New Every Two" feature where you're eligible for a new phone every two years without a signing a new contract. I'm sure that RossMan could give him pointers there. :)
