I don't think you have to have the imagedrive service running it can be turned off until u need it......but daemon tools it better for mounting images.....
Try going into your start menu and find the ahead->Nero-> imagedrive listing and click on it.....should give u an option to disable that particular service...
Do you actually use it to mount virtual drives???? or was it just installed with nero?
even with imagedrive turned off, there's some conflict with roxio -- either directCD or ezCDcreator. I can click-off imagedrive, but when I shutdown, win98 errors with a Windows Protection Error (usually), or hangs at "windows is shutting down".
If I can get imagedrive working, I'd prefer it over daemon tools, just to have 1 less thing installed.
Daemon tools was going to be my last resort (and still may be) -- but in all my googling, I read on a daemon-tools faq page that it TOO had a problem with the adaptec/roxio software.
I'll try turning off adaptec's directCD service instead of nero's imagedrive and see if that helps.
(Unfortunately, I uninstalled imagedrive -- and now the "install" is gone so I can't turn it back on ... meaning, I have to find my copy of nero

... I downloaded the 5.5 "patch", and it lost my serial-number

... so this is turning out to be a nightmare)
I only very rarely use directCD, so I wouldn't mind starting it -- using it -- and turning it off as the need arises.
Does anyone else have nero imagedrive AND adaptec/roxio both installed?
