My computer won't boot after a Windows 10 update. The computer had a message on it to reboot after win update. Now all I get is the initial splash screen.

What should I do so it will boot?

I tried the suggestions above but all remains the same. The only thing I get is a black screen with the following text "ThinkPad (large text) and under that in considerably smaller text To interrupt normal startup, press Enter."
Its the same old song, nothing changes. However, I am lucky I have another Win 10 computer that is working so I can search. I also have some blank CDs and some thumb drives so theoretically I can make tools. If there is a disc I can make to rescue myself, I can burn a disc.

SOMETHING NEW JUST HAPPENED

I just tried hitting Enter at startup again. This time I got a:
"Startup Interrupt Menu
Press one of the following keys to continue
ESC to resume normal startup
F1 to enter the BIOS Setup Utility
F10 to diagnose hardware
F12 to choose a temporary startup device
<CTRL-P> to enter the Management Engine setup screen
Press ENTER to pause..."
Any ideas as to what choice will allow me to undo the update?
Anyone have any ideas?

SOLVED: I hit ESC key and Windows started booting saying it is finishing my updates and they gave me a new browser "Microsoft Edge. " I hope I can uninstall Edge. I'm still trying to stop Bing from popping up. Is there really a reason that I should keep MS Edge?

If is windows 2004 update then your computer is too old and it doesnt have a solution, but, i can give you a solution to turn back to windows 8 without lose any information, but, you will lose all your regedit information.

do you need that guide?

That's my remembrance of it. Windows may reboot a few times to finish an update. How you encountered this glitch you experienced, I don't know.

Often, boot problems can be easily resolved by obtaining a tool like Mini-Tool. Macrium Reflect might also work. There's another utility I have -- fully licensed -- but my old man's memory is not doing so well about my software inventory on the machines I have. Of course, there may be a free version of Mini-Tool and there is certainly a free version of Macrium. Either way, you'd have to make a boot CD or USB of either and boot into it. It would then inform you of which OS's can be addressed for repair on your boot-system-disk.

Anyway, that's my vague understanding of it. Others may offer more detailed assistance.
