How Do I get my bootable DVD to write to HDD?

I would like to backup the contents of my hard drive on botable DVDs...

(I can create bootable DVDs using Nero)

Question...

After I format the hdd, how do I get the contents of the DVDs, (OS w/ settings & updates as well as
all other files), to write to the hdd?

the best way to back up the drive would be to use ghost or a similar program. Ghost can write an image of your drive to DVD's, then you boot to the DVD's or to a ghost boot floppy and tell ghost to restore to the newly formatted disk
