how do i get internet compression

Hi all,

I just got isdn yesterday and looked in to see the connection. I have had a look and saw that there is no internet compression. Is isdn meant to have internet compression. If so how do i get it and is there any software to make the internet downloads run faster and to stay online as i have a 4 hr limit, is there anyway of tricking the connection to stay on...

It depends. An ISDN connection can (and often does) run over a PPP connection when using an ISDN router. The ISP and your router would need to have it turned on. The compression only helps with compressable traffic (like this web board), but wont help with downloads, graphics and media since they are already in a compressed format.

I guess the software suggested in the other thread didn't keep you connected. I would suggest you use a download manager like GetRight that will resume your downloads. Then set you connection to autoredial if the connection is lost.

Nothing will speed up your downloads (meaning music, video, etc.) except for a faster connection.
