How do I get drop down arrow in google toolbar search window?

Up until yesterday there was a little arrow pointing donwn on the right side of my google toolbar search window. It was handy for bringing up previously searched items. But while my wife was on the computer the google toolbar updated itself (not sure if it's automatic or she allowed it). So now the down arrow is gone and I can't find a way to get it back. I do see they have introduced a new way to delete the history in the search box thought.

Anyway...any thoughts?

Click the G with the down arrow next to it and view history
