How do I get audio out on SBLive to work in XP?

I downloaded the latest drivers from windows update. The speaker out works but the audio out doesn't. I want to connect my speakers to audio out because it has less distortion since it is not amplified.

you might have better luck with the latest drivers available for XP and the SBLive! family

get them here

Then check that that output is enabled in the mixer

I don't know, I never could get the other output to work, the black plug as opposed to the green plug.
And there doesn't seem to be a control for it in the mixer, I set *everything* to high volume.

Is there Live!Ware for winxp? The only way I got the audio out to work in win2k was to install Live!Ware 3.0. I tried install that in xp and it totally messed up my system.

****** EDIT ******

That is a great link bacillus (next one down)

(I wonder why Creative doesn't put it on their site?)

The Liveware 3 XP software seems to be working great!

Thank you

that LW3 for XP isn't really released by Creative..... some hackers did that.....

XP live! drivers lack good sound quality compare to 9.x or 2000 drivers.. and rear speakers sometimes dun hav sound coming out...

i am switching back to the win2000 drivers... it works great.....

I downloaded LiveWare but I only get sound in wmp. I don't get window's sounds and there is no sound when i use winamp. Is this happening to anyone else?

Well, if you are getting sound than your sound drivers are ok.

check the settings on winamp to see if the mute button is checked ... check the volume slider and everything...

you could go into properties and select quadra speakers ... that should enable both audio outputs on the sound card ...

i don't know what else to check...

good luck
