hi crew -

i tried sending emails to the link listed on advertising page. havent heard back.

i would like to send you ugys some demo units and set up some advertising for your site.

we are a small group and just finished up developing and had fun at PMA in orlando. got a lot of positive feedback at the show.

www.gorillapod.com

please contact me: rama at joby.com so i can talk to the advertising crew and get you guys some samples 🙂

somebody finally did it right! That is a really cool product BTW. This thread needs to be a sticky to all those dotzoo.com (dotdeals) spammers that spam their trash in HD. I spend 10 minutes checking out ramascan's site and have another cool product to recommend to folks.

Thanks ramasan!

well i filled out the form maybe a week ago. i didnt call the phone when i filled out the form.

anyways, i called the number and left a message 🙂

would love to see the anand guys get their hands on a few of these!

Dude, that is awesome - I need that!
I thought it was very, very sad when I watched that video review on Cnet, and they said something along the lines of "all these products have the word pod in them and they don't have anything to do with an ipod." NO ****! It's a TRIPOD, that's why pod is in the name!!

Edit: placed an order and have a tracking # already 😀

Just as a courtesy, from what you've said I want to make sure you're aware of our editorial/advertising policy, since I get the impression you're not.

All of AnandTech's advertising is handled by a 3rd party(whom you've just contacted), they take care of everything to isolate us(the editors) from any possible influence due to advertising. It makes our jobs easier to honestly write about things when we know(or rather don't know) a paycheck isn't attached to the item in question.

As such, submitting a product for review will be different than setting up an advertising campaign. I don't know if our advertising agency will be able to direct you to the right person, but if not, you're going to want to talk to the default person on such matters, Anand(The Boss). Keep in mind reviewing the product would be at AT's discretion, so I suppose you could end up buying an advertising campaign and then it starts 2 weeks before the product was reviewed, or a similar situation like that.

ok so advertising aside, where can i send a few units to you guys and make sure anand gets his hands on one, or at least has the choice to check it out if he finds it intriguing enough 😛 ?

could you PM me a name and address? meanwhile i better trot off and read the editorial/advert policy...

The only way to get ahold of him will be via email unless the agency tells you otherwise.

That is a neat product. I assume it will work with my Olympus D580 Zoom? I don't see why it wouldn't but you never know...

Ryan, you are an AT staff member?
1. Where is your AT avatar?
2. What is your role within the organization?

I've been here a long time and this is the first thread I've seen you in.

1. The AT avatars were only made once, and even then only for the senior staff.
2. I'm one of the junior graphics/CPU editors, along with Josh Venning. I'm still fairly new, so I'm not surprised you haven't seen me.

Kudos on the "cheaper without the unneccessary packaging" angle. Cuts down on trash, and the annoyance of tearing open those bubble plastic packages.
