How do i get a USB keyboard to work in my bios??

i just bought the microsoft natural pro keyboard, installed all the software and i cant get it to type in dos. eg: choosing a system in a dual boot and changing my bios. if i plus in my old ps/2 keyboard it will work. is there any way to get a usb keyboard to work in dos?? (it only has a usb connector, no ps/2)

It depends on the motherboard. Some will allow usage in Bios by enabling USB keyboard support in bios..some wont. Some will allow usage in DOS...some wont. I have an Intel OR840 and it allows you to use USB anywhere..just depends on the board.

Most newer BIOS have an option called USB Keyboard Support. Enable it to use your USB keyboard. If your BIOS doesn't have this option, you're SOL.

thanks guys...i got the oem keyboard and it only has usb :(. oh well i have the epox 8k7a, or will as soon as its rma'ed back to me. im sure it will have this option. thanks for the advice.

what you want to look for is usb legacy support.

this allows you to use usb mice and keyboards which the motherboard allows to be used (through emulation and junk) as normal ps2 devices so you can use them in dos (given proper drivers)...
