How do I get a third party map to work in BF1942? (Possible light shed on "exit to desktop" problem)

Hello! I downloaded the map Wake Evenings for Battlefield 1942, but I can't get it to work. The installation instructions are for the file system from before the upgrade to v1.2, but I think I adapted them correctly. But when I try to load it, I get the exit to desktop problem so many people have with that game, only I don't have the problem with any other map.

For that matter, can anyone think of any way that this problem sheds some light on the exit to desktop problem? 🙂
