How do I get a 2nd job that offers flexibility in hours?

Here's the story:

I will be a sophomore in college come September. However, I've been sitting at home for almost a month now and I've been extremely bored during this vacation. I already have a job but they're not really giving me enough hours (a little less than 20 hours per week). I've thought about volunteering my services somewhere but since my crappy job doesn't pay enough, I may be seeking a 2nd job.

Now, my job's schedule changes each and every week though I normally end up working the late afternoon into the evening shifts. How do I go about looking for a job that offers extreme flexibility in terms of scheduling?

I've thought of self-employment (perhaps mowing lawns around town) but mowing lawns doesn't sound like it pays much. I can't get a 2nd "real" job because I'm taking a summer course come July so I need to devote my time to that. But even with the summer course come July, I'm still going to have alot of free time on my hands.

Maybe I can somehow end up doing electronic paperwork for a local business or something. The problem is, I have no idea how to go about trying to get such a job. I've thought of doing computer repair but I don't feel like becoming their Tech Support guy when their computer breaks down again come October. Afterall, I'll be in school and don't have the time to deal with broken computers then.

So does anyone have any ideas or suggestions they can pass along my way? Thanks!

Mowing lawns can pay pretty well, I imagine the problem would be finding people who want you to mow their lawn.

To really mow lawns you have to get started early in the season, by now most would have figured out who will cut their lawns. Of course, going to kinkos and copying 100 flyers for lawn mowing and putting them in mailboxes isn't hard, give it a try

But putting those flyers in mailboxes IS illegal. All it takes is for one person to complain to the post office and the person who put the flyer in there would be in a world of hurt.

It's so hard to compete when you've got a push mower and the services have those giant self-propelled monsters that can cover a .5 acre yard in 10 minutes.

I was going to suggest trying to get a theme reader job at a local school but it's summer (duh).

Do computer reapair, but do it with the understanding that you will be gone come labor day, and any expressed warranties on your work end then. Or, find someone else around town who is good at computers who you can give your business too.

I will be doing the latter with the computer business i have cultivated over the last few years.
