How do I free up space on my windows drive?

I have my drive split so 5 gig's is for windows and the rest is for everything else. The problem is the 5 gig's is about full and it's causing some problems. How do I allocate more space for windows? Thanks!

This is why making tons of partitions for every different type of data you might store is stupid.

Delete some stuff, then you'll have more room.

Partition, that's the word I was thinking of. Yeah I've tried deleting stuff and I guess I can't find enough to delete. I was hoping I could get rid of the partition or make it larger somehow.

He's probably installing all of his applications to C:\. A much better option is to install them to a larger and different paritiion.

You could also try cleaning out the temp & internet files.

clean up your temporary internet files, remove useless programs
and clean up your newsgroup cache in outlook express (if you play newsgroup)

Move your pagefile to a different partition? Turn off system restore and delete the contents of System Volume Information folder? Reduce the size of your Recycle bin storage? Start with a larger Windows partition to begin with.

Easy way to clean out temp files and free up some space is to open 'My Computer', right-click the drive you want to clean up, choose Properties. There you click Disk Cleanup

I always disable the recycling bin, waste of space for me. I actually have used system restore twice, although the last time actually did more harm than good, so it may not be worth it. Probably disable that too.

All my programs are installed on a seperate partition (edit). Still not quite sure how so much stuff got onto the windows drive. I started moving some things to a folder on my other drive in case it was important. So far I've got it down to 3.3 gigs. Seems there was a Nero file that was taking up about 700 mb. Thanks for the help guys.

you could also get partition magic (or other similar software) and reallocate space from a relatively unused partition to your C drive.

Edit: oops saw you have two drives now.

Google a program called "Sequoia View." It gives you a graphical layout of your drive/partition based on individual file size. Very helpful for finding and deleting huge temp/backup files that bury themselves in arcane folder structures.
