Hey I have a computer running windows xp pro, how do I format it? I have no boot disks, etc. Is there a way to get to DOS and run FDISK?

When I boot from cd is starts its little process and when it gets to the screen that asks if I want to delete the partition I say yes and it says it cant because it contains setup files

I believe that means you somehow started an installation and are at a point where it won't let you delete. I had a similar issue but once I let it try to install a bit more I was able to go back and delete the partition.

Ok I let it ge a little farther into install and it gave me the option again to erase previous windows. Thanks guys!

If you want to format a drive like that, Go to the Manufacturer and download the hard drive utilities for that drive.. Do a low level format.. Then after that, Put the windows CD back in and do that thang 🙂
