How do I format my HD to NTFS? (From a new build, with two new IBM HDD's unpartitioned and unformated)

I have just built the system and was just wondering how to format the two 46.1Gb IBM HDD's to NTFS for use with Windows 2000.

Do I use Fdisk or some special tool? If so, what command do I use?

What is the best cluster size to use too? How would I specify this?

Thanks

Boot it up with Win2k boot disk. During installation it will ask if you want to format it NTFS or FAT.

If doing a fresh install, it may be better to partition/format the drive with a third-part tool (PartitionMagic, Ranish, etc.) before performing the install. This way, you won't be surprised with the drive lettering scheme when all is said and done.

Yes! I made that mistake and have a Ghost image NTFS with 4096 byte allocation units! Problem is, the system drive is D!!! I can even assign a network drive or a removable drive as C! That will really confuse installers, especially older ones!

Cheers!
