How do I format a HD in Windows ME?

My bro inlaw bought a PC with Windows ME on it and was Windows 98 SE installed. Well I never used Windows ME before and don't know how to format a HD in that OS as it doesnt have the option to restart windows in dos.

Please explain how.

I used my WIN98 boot disk to format when I got Win ME-worked fine

what did you do exactly? When I put in the boot disc it asked me is I wanted to boot with CD-Rom support or something.

OK, pop in a Windows 98 bookdisk... it will then ask u if you want to boot with CD-rom support, choose Yes... Then it will load all the DOS functions you need into a RAM drive...

After everything is done and you get the DOS prompt, you can load fdisk and format from the RAM drive to do what you want (repartition, format, etc)... After you are done, just pop in your win98 CD, go to the CD drive and type setup to start re-install Windows 98...
