How do i flash my BIOS?

I went to my motherboard manufacturer's site and they have a bios update for my board....i downloaded it and in the zip file is a .BIN....what do i do with this to update my bios? Is updating my bios going to give me any real performance increase that makes it worth doing?

Updating your bios will give you better compatibility and eliminate some minor problems. Check the CD that comes with your mobo. See if there's any program to flash it. I'm sure that somewhere in your manual, they'll guide you through it. 😉

Go back to the MB webpage and look for the flash program particular to your MoBo to download. The flash programs are specific to the MoBo chipset. Usually, to flash a MoBo you have to boot from a system disk floppy which contains the flashing program and the new BIOS file. The procedures vary slightly between manufacturers so you should follow your MoBo's manufacturer's procedure to the letter. Otherwise you could end up with a corrupt BIOS from a failed flash. Which is not easy to recover from.
It is hard to predict if a later BIOS revision will increase performance or not as BIOS revisions address different issues within previous BIOS revisions. If you are happy with the way your computer is running do not flash it(ie. If it ain't broke don't try to fix it).

Thanks....thats exactly what i was thinking, "if its not broke dont fix it" because i seem to take my tweaking too far sometimes which leads to about a day of recovering.

I would suggest to go to MWave and get their bios savor.
I flashed my Abit and now it's dead.
I ordered one for future experimentation. Here
