I am having period USB lockup problems. This looks like this can be fixed with a BIOS update to my K8N Neo2 Platinum 7025 MB. However I don't own a floppy drive. Is there any way to flash the BIOS with no floppy driver?

Not sure on your MB, but with mine there's an option to make a bootable CD to upgrade the BIOS.

There's also a Live (online) program to upgrade the BIOS. I'm thinking MSI has something like this too, but it's been too long since I upgraded my MSI MB's to remember for sure.

You might want to go look around on the MSI site under the Downloads section for your MB model.

Yep, install MSI LiveUpdate, and you can do it within Windows. I've done it a couple of times on my K8MM-ILSR, and it's worked fine.

I have never used the Live Update, but wouldn't it increase the likelyhood of a bad flash, either from an internet problem or a system crash in the middle of it?

Don't most mobos have a backup bios in case the first one gets messed up.

Not really. The BIOS is pulled down before the flashing, so the only possible error is a system crash during the flash. I wouldn't consider that to be any more likely in practice on a freshly booted machine than a failure via a disk-based flash.

I normally use a bootable CD and another CD-R with the BIOS files burned onto it.

No, quite the opposite. There are a few motherboards with dual bios chips, but most of them only have one. And if it gets fried, the only solution is to send it back to the manufacturer for repair. The only alternative that I'm aware of is a product called Bios Savior.
