How do I flash my 7900GTO BIOS to a 7900GTX?

I have an EVGA 7900GTO. Using CoolBits, I've tried to overclock it. All I get is a measely 10MHz on the Core and about 12MHz on the memory. Trying any higher and the "Test Settings" fails. As you know, if the "test" fails, you can't enable the OC.

I know that the BIOS controls everything on the card. The timings on the memory as well as the voltage. Could it be the bios holding me back?

How do I flash the bios with a GTX bios? Where do I get such tools/software? How many of you have successfully flash the 7900GTO to a GTX?

ps
I have an Antec TP2.0-550 watt PS that powers the OC'ed rig in my sig just fine. Absolutely no power issues, BSODs, restarts whatever. The PS is not the issue. :)

Have you tried any other program to overclock?? AtiTool maybe(I use it for my 8800GTS)?? I can't use nTune with the 8800 so have been using ATiTool with great success.

Flashing the BIOS can be risky. Most people flashed to the GTX BIOS once they confirmed the card can work at GTX speeds.

I had a 7900GTO before my 8800 and it could do GTX speeds but the memory used is actually different on the GTO right so it's a bit of a crapshoot to overclock the memory I think.

Thanks, thilan29; I'll give ATI Tool or RivaTuner a shot.

I wonder if I should disable CoolBits first?

Man, there is just something weird about this card.

It won't overclock in CoolBits. With ATI Tool, I can set the core/memory overclock, but like magic, it doesn't "stick." It will revert to some absurdly low clock (BELOW stock) even when running a 3D App.

I am just going to leave it stock and deal with it. :|

There is nothing weird with your GTO card.
The newer Nvidia drivers have coolbit disabled.
That's why.
As someone suggested that you could use 3rd party tool to do the trick as I've found ATItool being the best, IMO.
Mine has been overclocked at 710/800mhz using only older Tweaksrus driver. (no 3rd party tool used)

Perhaps your card just isn't a good overclocker? I had two 7900GTO cards and one overclocked really well, and the other one was almost as bad as yours.

It's been a long while since i used ATI Tool, but your problem with setting the clocks can be fixed. I know this because it happened to me with my X1900XTX.

IN the settings for your card (i.e. fan speed, voltage, etc..) there is an option at the top to select the device. Drop down the menu and change the device from whatever it is on to the other option in the drop down menu and that should fix the problem.
