How do I fix this problem?

I gave my old computer to my parents before I left for college and after a few months, it stopped working. I tried to fix it, but I keep getting this to happen ---

I plug the power cord into the back of the PSU and flip the I/O switch to on. I hear some weird sound for a continuous time and one of the front status lights turns on. It goes away if I unplug the cord or flip the PSU power switch.

I tried holding down the power button with the cord out and put it in again but it does the same thing. Is my PSU crapped out? It's an Antec Neopower from early 2005.

Sounds like a dead PSU. Get an new one and hope the mothebroard isn't damaged from your atempts to force the system to power on.

Pull the side panel off...
Investigate what's happening to fans, etc...
Post more information...
Details are key ingredient of troubleshooting
