How do I fix the usbohci.sys blue error screen in XP *pic*

That is the error it gives me at least once a day. It's gotten progressively worse over the past month and it's annoying =(

Sometimes it happens while I'm using it, other times it happens when I fall asleep and wake up, the error is up.

Only way to get windows back is to turn power off, then back on.

I can't figure out how to fix this problem.

Can anyone help me? Please? I'm desperate =(

The USB chip controller driver is doing something illegal, so the machine BSOD's. (In this case, the instruction at address 0xf89ce08e, which is part of usbohci.sys, is trying to read from address 0x00000048. Reading from address 0x00000048 is illegal at all times; the first 64K of memory space is off limits to ALL processes to help developers catch problems with null pointers.)

First, visit Windows Update and see if there's a newer driver.

If there's not, the problem is likely not with the USB chip driver, but a USB device driver that's passing bad data to the USB controller driver. Ensure you've got the latest drivers for all your USB devices.

All blue screens that aren't 0xCxxxxxxx are driver (or hardware) errors. If it starts with 0xC, it's not a driver error and usually happens at system startup.

Only USB device I have is the Bellsouth Alcatel USB Stingray Modem

I dun remember where I got the drivers for it from, anyone know where I can go for it?

Any other info needed?

No no no no no, do NOT USE THE 1.6 drivers, use 1.4.

I had a crappy problem where it would disconnect the internet all the time, after some period of time, it pissed me off so much. BellSouth customer service was of no help, and I was the one who told THEM that the drivers were crappy, and they moved them back to BETA status.

1.4 1.4 1.4!!!

hehe that crazy little stingray... those crazy europeans over at Alcatel..
 
no i'm not overclocking, and i've already tried the patch and the standard thing but it didn't help =(

will try new drivers for the modem
