I've been having some problems adjusting my computer resolution on my Inspiron 8600. Whenever I attempt to change the resolution on either the desktop or in a game, I get massive amounts of black bars to either side of the screen. (as opposed to stretching to fit as it has always done on a standard monitors).
This problem has been most notable in WarCraft 3. I can't even get above 800x640 before the screen goes halfway out of my viewable area (even though the max resolution is 1680x1050 on my desktop, so I shouldn't have this problem). Same thing with Counter-strike. Even though it allegedly supports widescreen, it only returns an error message when I try to switch to it. I'm guessing there's something embarassingly obvious in the display options or something that will fix this problem, but I've failed in finding it. Any help would be much appreciated.Thanks
