How do I fix my sleeping schedule?

I just started working a full time job, 3 weeks ago. Since then, my sleeping schedule is screwed.

I get up at 7:00 am in the morning, and when I come back around 6:00 pm. I feel very very sleepy. But I can't go to sleep at 6:00 PM, otherwise that would screw up my sleep. But then I can't go to sleep till 3:00 AM in the morning.

I don't get it. I even tried exercising (walking a mile) so that I would get tired and fall asleep. But that didn't help. How can I fix my sleeping schedule? Ideally I would want to be in bed around 11:00 PM and get up at 5:30 AM.

Whenever I need to fix my schedule or wake up early for something when I'm used to going to bed at 3-4am I just pull an all nighter and don't allow myself to go to bed until the time I should be going to sleep to wake up when I want to.

When I had to wake up at 6am to help a buddy move I pulled an all nighter... went to bed around 11pm the next day. I was dead tired by then, definately had no trouble falling asleep 🙂

I find its easier to stay awake when you have to then to fall asleep when you have to.

I have insomnia and sleep apnea, which is a bad combination, but this is what the Stanford Sleep Center told me and it might work for you:

Get up at the time you want to. During the day do not take naps. Don't go to bed until you are absolutely exhausted. About an hour before you want to go to sleep, go to a different room in the house and do something relaxing -- and keep the lighting to a minimum. After a few nights, you should start falling asleep earlier.

you need to do some cardio workout....sorry but walking is [not] exercising (unless ur powerwalking) it'll take around 2 weeks running/joggin every other day before you notice the energy increase.

been there I used Ambien for 2 months got on track and then tapered off.

took clonapin (klonapin) for awhile didn't wear off for such a long time it screwed up my life worse than life with out

Ambien = expensive make sure you have good insurance. I didn't it cost me $75 a month 🙁

- don't take naps
- get plenty of exercise
- go to bed at the late time you have been lately and get up at the early time you have to. keep doing this for a few days until you are extremely sleepy and then gradually start going to bed earlier and earlier
