How do I fix DIRECT3D mouse lag?

As soon as I installed my intellimouse explorer, it gave me problems with D3D games. The mouse has a 1-2 second lag, it's horrible. I tried switching back to my normal Microsoft mouse, but now it lags too. Perhaps it is the mouse driver? Help!

As long as you know how to use keyboard shortcuts, go into device manager and remove your mouse. Use tab and enter to get to 'Okay' then use the windows key to bring up the start menu and restart. Let windows reinstall your original mouse drivers.

I don't have an intellimouse, but check on Microsoft's site for updated drivers.
