How do I find out what's causing 50% CPU usage?

I opened up Windows Task Manager (XP Pro) and my CPU is running at a constant 45-65% CPU usage. No applications are running in the App's tab but there are about 30 processes showing. How can I find out what app or process is causing this (besides disabling processes one at a time)? I've got NAV running, but it was also running before this problem started.

Just look for the process(es) with the high number(s) in the CPU column.

To make things easy, click the "CPU" heading to sort them.

Clicking on the CPU time column is usually easier to read becasue it doesnt skip about as quickly

I don't think that column is visible by default, so if you want to see it go to View >> Select Columns... and check the CPU Time box. 😉

Well, the only reason I said that was because I just reinstalled XP Pro on a comp here, and I had to add that column in... :Q

Maybe that's more of MS' failing initiative to make XP usable for people with the IQ of a sand crab.
