How do i find out what program uses xxx amount of ram?

tonight i have been just surfing online, and that is it. my current ram usage is 300MB, but the peak is 920MB. is there any program that can log how much ram different programs use, because 920MB peak seems like a ton of memory when all i have done has been surfing the web...i would like to find out which program is the culprit...

Right-click the System Tray and go to Task Manager. Click the Processes tab. Next, go to the View menu and choose Select Columns. Make sure VM Size is checked. Use the VM Size column to help you find your culprit.

open task manager, when on the processes tab, choose view, select colums, and turn on vm size.

That was mentioned already. Second post. 🙂

I believe that VM Size will show virtual memory size.
Enable:
Mem Usage
Peak Mem Usage

That should be more telling.

Opening up many (i.e. 20+) Internet Explorer windows will do that on my system. The funny thing is that if I close all but 1 window, the memory usage can stiull stay inordinately high.

i will give this a try. the weird thing is that i am not doing anything like opening up 20+ ie windows or gaming when this happens sometimes.

i have done all that is suggest, but the reason i am asking for a logging program, is because it seems like a program might come up and use quite a bit of ram, then close down. these suggestions, although very good, are only for what programs happen to be on and don't log everything...
