taking my computer apart? Looking at the BIOS doesn't tell me, nor does looking at the device manager, that just gives me the generic ide controller. Can't find out where to look?!!? I'm running win2k. Thanks in advance to any replies.

right-click on any hard drive in My Computers then go to properties. Under the Hardware tab, there should be a list of your drives and type.

Well, you could try watching the BIOS screens when the computer boots. If the IDE's are on auto detect, it should tell you at least who makes the drive.

Or you can take the computer apart. 🙂
