I am having trouble installing drivers for my laptop so I have a suspicion I am not using the right ones.

It is a Dell M1330 laptop and it's supposed to be some SigmaTel device and it's difficult to find the right drivers on Dell's support site because the laptop was released for Vista so all the drivers they have are for Vista but I am running XP. Any equivalent drivers I can find even this guy who supposedly has the same laptop: http://www.dell-m1330-info.com..._m1330_windows_xp.html
does not work on this laptop.

How can I find exactly what drivers I need for this thing?

To find out what audio devices your laptop has, open Control Panel and then select Sound and Audio Devices.
