hey y'all i bought a radeon 64mb vivo recently but im not sure if i'll keep it at all...

i heard that there are two versions, one with 5.5ns ram and the other with 5.0ns ram... and that the one with 5.0 is just as good as a geforce2 pro... well?

is there any way that i can find out how fast the ram is? because if its not 5.0 i think ill resell it...

thx a lot!

Go to the chip and look for markins at the end of a code, something like 5n, 5t, etc etc. Also, with the 5.5ns, you can try oc'ing it to SE speeds (250/230 i believe) and see how it works.

and am i right to believe that a radeon 64 vivo with 5ns ram is just as good if not better than a gf2 pro at 3d games?

Even the Radeon 7500 is only about equal to a RadeonSE (Radeon w/5ns RAM) so I sincerely doubt that a Radeon SE could match it in most cases. more accurately it's somewhere between a GF2 GTS and a GF2 Pro in performance.

Geforce2 Pro will be faster across the board than any Radeon in probably all video benches. However at high resolutions, 32bit, in some of the benches, just as good.

radeons have very good 2d and 3d image quality. if you want huge frame rates (who doesn't) and super-smooth motion no matter what go with the gforce. once you hit a certain frame rate though any more is just an impressive number. for that reason i chose a radeon all in wonder with 32mb ddr. i am evry happy with the image quality and features, even if the frame rates are "low."

thx

well i looked at my cards ram things and well it says "5T" and has a serial number somehting like "0005000" im cant remember fully

does this mean i have an SE? cuz my manual says VE, but i dont expect that to be accurate as manuals are mass-printed...

also, how would i go about overclocking it?

The easiest way is to look at the brand of ram. The 5ns ram ATi used is ESMT (EliteMT) ram; The 5.5ns ram used in the original Radeon 64mb DDR is made by Hyundai.
