How do i find out my core?

I bought my 1ghz T-Bird in February and i wanted to know what core i have AXIA or what? How can i find out and is there a way without removing my HSF (my socket clip holder is all but gone b/c of the damn Globalwin clips).

not that i know of...you most likely gonna have to remove the HSF and look at the core.

I don't see any way of seing the stepping without removing the hsf either, but it can be done if you're very careful. It doesn't stand on the core itself but just under it, for a guide see how you register a cpu at MyAnandtech

You could try WCPUID - that usually (as far as I remember) gives you the stepping of the core as well...

I don't think wincpuid tells you the stepping, but it can give you hints by telling you the cpu family. 6-4-2 is for older t-birds, 6-4-4 is for AYHJA and newer. Not sure what Pal's family grouping is, or any newere steppings than AYHJA. If you want to know for sure, scrape the goop off the CPU, but I wouldn't take the HSF unless you have a reason to (new HSF, you are gonna lap your HSF, or u just got some AS2 and want to put it on).
