Just wondering what a revision is and how I can tell which one I'm getting on my A64 when I buy it from NewEgg. Thanks. I think it may have to do with comparing product numbers, but even if that is true, I have no idea how to and no idea what revision is better. So, thank to anyone who helps.

there are two revisions for the A64's.... CG and C0

the original was C0.... the reason for the CG was due to the fact that the memory controller is on the chip rather than the northbridge and there was some incompatibility between the chips and some memory so the new CG stepping allows for more compatibility

and from what i understand it'll allow you to run 1 gig of memory at higher fsb's due to the fact that you can use 2T now while you couldn't before with the C0 revision...

also, CG supposedly overclocks better... but i always say overclocking is a lot about luck...

as for ID-ing them...

if you visit newegg and look at the model #

anything that has AXBOX or ends with AR or AX (the key is the last letter) is CG stepping
AP = C0 or if newegg doesn't show an AX or AR in the model number then it's most likely a C0 stepping...

Thanks. As I was waiting for a response, I checked out AMD.com and got all my answers and learned how to navigate the site to retrieve those answers. Thanks anyway though, I really appreciate it!

Dang it! Is NewEgg really selling Clawhammer 3400+s and no Newcastles, or did they just screw up and delete the wrong listing? This is driving me nuts, I'm all ready to order but I want a Newcastle, and I want my whole order from one place. (Monarch says they have a Newcastle 3400+).
