HOw do i find out if this cell phones works with verizon?

I have a relatively new kyocera phone from my old sprint pcs accout, switching over to verizon... If verizon will let me, i'd like to still use this phone to save a few dollars. Unless they are giving away free phones or something.

here is my phone (2345)-- that page only lists providers outside the US.

edit-- n/m.. it lists in the U.S. as well.

so should verizon just be able to swap this phone over to thier service?

Search the Howard forums for more cell phone info. This question has been asked many times before, about many different Sprint phones over there in the Verizon forum. The answer is always the same: It's technically possible, but you need to talk the right people to make it happen, and not worth the hassle.

You might be able to find a techie at Verizon who will help you unlock it from Sprint and load the Verizon PRL, and it might work, but it won't work right. The phone will still have Sprint's firmware, and that means you won't be able to send or receive text messages or use any other data services.

thanks 🙂

i'm going to run by the verizon store tomorrow and see what they say... if they have some good cheap phones, i'll give them a look

I just looked at the brochure. Yes it will work, because it's a CDMA tri-mode. All you got to do is unlock the phone to work with Verizon.

There's a good chance Verizon store will brush you off, because they do want to sell new phones. If you can't get it unlocked, you can always get something like Motorola v120e which is like $20 w/ activation.
