I bought a refurbished gaming pc from ebay last year, and I always had an issue with the pc either going to a black screen , forcing me to power off the machine, or constantly saying I am out of memory, even though I have 16gb of ram. I have a feeling one of my ram sticks is bad and it's why I am experiencing issues. I have a pc manufactured by Lenovo and my system info says SKYBAY SDK0J40709.

https://www.newegg.ca/g-skill-32gb-...iption=32gb&cm_re=32gb-_-20-232-418-_-Product is the ram kit I want to buy.. Can anybody confirm this ram will work with my motherboard? What tests should I be running on my pc to see if my issues are

Don't just presume that a memory module is bad. Have you checked for system file corruption by running SFC /scannow from an elevated command prompt? Similarly, file system corruption can also cause this type of error - run CHKDSK /F from an elevated command prompt (you will probably have to let it restart to complete the testing). As always, make sure to back up your important files before testing.

MEMTEST86+ is very good for memory testing. However, if you are running Windows, use the inbuilt Windows Memory Diagnostic tool (easiest way to find it is to enter windows diagnostic in the search box). You can also run diagnostics and get lots of systems information from HWiNFO. If you do this, you might take a look at the CPU temps to see if your CPU or video card is overheating.

To find out about the memory modules your machine takes, you can also run the Crucial memory scan tool at www.crucial.com to find the specs of some compatible memory modules -- it might also provide you with a Lenovo model number as well.

I know this is an old topic, but could anybody confirm the ram sticks will work? I don't necessarily care 100% if if the ram doesn't fix the issue. I want 32 gb anyways, and I will try reformatting my pc if it doesn't fix my crashing issues

under memory in CPU-Z, it says the following

Type: DDR4
Channel: Dual
size: 16gb
NB frequency: goes from 3987 to 3993...

I assume because I already have DDR 4 ram in my system, I will be fine for the kit in the link posted?

under mainboard I have

Manufacture: Lenovo 40709 WIN 32596012
Model: SKYBAY
Chipset: Intel Skylake Rev. 07
Southbridge: Intel Z170 Rev.31
