How do I find out if a laptop has USB or USB 2.0?

My sister has a laptop and I need to find out if she has USB or USB 2.0 on it. What can she do to check? She is using WinXP Home Edition I believe.

Look in the device manager under USB at the bottom and browse for standard enhanced controller or USB2 enhanced. If you see it then you should have USB 2.0 ports.

Or try plugging in a fairly new USB drive or something in the port. If its USB1.1, it should tell you that its plugged into a slower port and what not.
Whats the brand/model of the laptop and how old is it? Shouldn't be too hard to find specs online.

I know my old IBM T23 laptop is USB 1.1, is there anyway to upgrade to USB 2.0 easily?!
It's really a pain being this slow on large transfers!
I know it's easy to upgrade a desktop system, pop in a PCI USB 2.0 card and you are set! But what about on a laptop??

Any idea where to get a good PCMICA USB card at a decent price?

Are some brands better than others for my IBM T23 laptop?

THANKS, really need this to connect an external HD with!

Looks like all the junk ones on Eday have a POWER CORD? Shouldn't need a cord, as it's plugged into the computer, no?
