How do i fake a smart error or something

basically we have this "admin" who's not doing her work, spends her time surfing, she has 2 screen and one cover up so you can't see when she's on youtube or etc.

basically we dont have an excuse to swap her pc if its working so my boss want me to fake some error so IT is forced to swap the pc into a single screen one instead of a dual screen one..

if I can force some smart error or hdd failing error, it would be awesome.. this way we dont look like the bad people preventing her from watching games of throne during work time.. hahha

so anyway to fake a windows hdd failure smart error ?

Just remote in and reformat the HDD.

If you're replacing her PC, why would you take her second monitor away?

Or you could just filter Youtube, etc.

Are you that short on monitors? Isn't the real problem that she isn't doing her job? I don't get it.

You can have one or more of my old monitors if you want but I suspect that you'd have to travel quite a ways to pick it up. 😉

I think your email constitutes public admission that might expose the company to liability for any kind of worker lawsuit or harassment. I'd suggest you just raise an issue with your HR department, and let them deal with it using the proper diplomatic channels.

This is more appropriate for your companies disciplinary process. Unless of course what you want to do is set yourselves up for work place harassment, messing with peoples workstation, hacking remotely etc is a good way to end up paying a problematic employee a lot of money to leave after its been done.

Sounds like the people you work for are complete dumbasses if this is the kind of childish crap you have to do to monitor some allegedly bad employee.

Is your boss, her boss? If so, what a coward or maybe they have a very good relationship. Otherwise, it's just easier to IT take a monitor back or have her boss or an IT boss take one monitor away.

Yeah, it sounds like the boss is a bit too ... 'cosey' with them, and he don't want her to blame him.

Don't know why a simulated SMART error would be cause for a monitor to be revoked. Just tell them the monitor is needed elsewhere since the other one 'broke'.

This should be moved to off topic for some great suggestions! 😀

Disconnect devices/cables that have "pins" inside the connector (like a DVI or VGA cable, or IDE connector, etc.). Bend a few pins 90 degrees. Reconnect.

There should be a way to log a particular station's network accesses to and from the internet, be it by software or in the networking equipment. Then you can print out the logs and let the guys who discipline workers know the precise details. She can't can what was logged did not happen. You might have to pay for that software though. Something like WebSpy does these things.
