How do I extend my partition?

When I installed xp I made a 100gb partition on the harddrive and installed it on that. I am coming close to the 100gb mark and I want to know if it is possible to release the other 60gb of this 160gb hd. I have xp home.

Did you want to join the two together or did you want to just utilize the other 60GB? If it's the former then you can use a program such as Norton Partition Magic 8.0 to resize the partitions.

Hmm... I used partition magic before for expanding my OS partition... Corrupted it... I read that you were supposed to defrag before you do... Oh well...

I just say make two partitions (from my experience).

Surely you have data that can be moved from the 100GB partition to the 60GB. For example if you store items in My Documents you can change the shortcut to point to the other partition. You could also use GParted, Partition Magic, or diskpart that is built into the OS to resize the partitions.

GParted all the way if you want to resize your single partition. Hands down the best resizing utility I've used.
